Storm Knocks Out Power For Thousands In Baldwin County

A fast moving storm left thousands of people without electricity Sunday afternoon.

Lighting may to blame for a huge power outage in Baldwin County. A fast moving storm hit an Alabama Power substation in Silverhill. Lightening may have taken out one of the main power distribution pipelines for Baldwin County.

A spokesman with Baldwin EMC says about 20,000 customers were without power earlier today. Riviera Utilities says they had thousands more without power Sunday as well. Many had their service restored before sundown.
