Police captured an escapee from the Atmore Community Work Center, 200 miles away near Birmingham.
Homewood Police tried to pull over William Riley around 10:30 Tuesday night. Riley refused to stop, but he made a costly mistake when he turned down a dead end street. Riley got out and ran. He fell into a creek bed before a canine officer caught up with him.
Riley was with an ex-con when he was caught. Police also arrested 43 year old Roosevelt Humphrey. He served time for a burglary and theft conviction. Both men are being held at the Homewood Police Department.
Riley escaped Monday. The Alabama Department of Corrections say he stole a truck from the Atmore Community Work Center. The truck belongs to an employee who left the keys in the vehicle.
