Three men face robbery charges after a pair of holdups in south Mobile County last night. The first happened at about 8 pm in Irvington where deputies say suspects used a truck to block the road and rob a family and gunpoint.
If you saw a truck pulled out in the middle of this intersection, you'd probably do what Eric Wimpee did and stop.
“2-3 seconds two guys just jumped out and started yelling for my money, my kids started screaming my wife started freaking out,” says robbery victim Eric Wimpee. He says he was taking his family shopping last night when they stopped the car and were held and gunpoint. An hour later deputies say someone else was robbed in the same way elsewhere in the county.
“You'd like to think that you'll do the right thing, but when there's a gun pointed in your face it changes the dynamic you know,” says Wimpee. The Mobile County Sheriff's office arrested three men--Keith Haynes, Robert Smith and Harold Harris and charged them with first degree robbery. Even though the robbers stole just one-hundred dollars from Eric--he says he lost a lot more than that in peace of mind.
“I’m still shaking now, we're walking through the house and I can tell it’s on everyone's mind, me myself and my wife anyway,’ says Wimpee.
