Friends, family gather to bid farewell to Robb Murphy, Mobile radio's Charlie Ocean.

There were plenty of laughs and tears today as friends and family remembered long-time radio DJ Robb Murphy, known on the air as Charlie Ocean.

Murphy died earlier this week following a brief illness.

A memorial service was held Saturday afternoon at Hank Aaron Stadium where friends, colleagues and family remembered Murphy.

His radio career spanned 4 decades, beginning with KBOW in Butte, Montana in 1978 and including stints at local stations WKRG-FM (now WMXC), Wizard 104, WZEW and WAVH.

He was involved in Mobile BayBears baseball for the past 15 years, producing radio broadcasts and voicing commercials.

Murphy leaves behind a wife and 5 children.

Raymond Robert Murphy, Jr. Was 55 years old.
