Two Baldwin County businessmen have filed a 130-page ethics complaint against Alabama Senator Trip Pittman, accusing Pittman of violating state ethics laws when he accepted a lucrative oil boom project with the city of Fairhope.
Pittman says he did nothing wrong, he says his Daphne company, Pittman Tractor, was awarded the 639-thousand dollar project because they were the lowest bidder. Pittman calls the ethics complaint political sabatoge.
"Anybody can file a complaint against an elected official," says Pittman. "This was politically motivated. Pittman Tractor did nothing wrong. We simply had the best bid for the project."
Like Senator Pittman, city officials in Fairhope also deny any wrong-doing.
The 130-page ethics complaint was sent to more than 20 local, state and federal agencies, including the Alabama Ethics Commission and the state attorney general's office. Both agencies would not comment about about the ethics complaint.
