The Prichard Water Board has filed suit against Mobile Area Water and Sewer System. The lawsuit challenged House Bill 466, which would dissolve the Prichard Water Board.
Willie Huntley is the attorney representing Prichard Water Board. He says the bill is unconstitutional for several reasons. Huntley points out that state law prohibits a utility company from being dissolved.
Alabama State Senator Vivian Figures and State Representative Napoleon Bracy both support House Bill 466.
Huntley says if MAWSS takes over there will be a loss of revenue for the city and rate increases are likely.
