Hundreds Welcome 1165th Back Home

»  Comments | Post a Comment

About 175 soldiers from the 1165th Military Police Company came home Friday. And hundreds of people waited outside the Fairhope Civic Center to welcome them home.

"It's really a true blessing and we're so thankful that everyone is coming home safely and we can't express just how happy we are that they are coming home," said Tracy O’Connor, who’s husband was coming back home.

The troops have been deployed in Kabul, Afghanistan for the last 11 months. So for many it was nice being back home for Christmas.

Oh it's great, right for it to work out right as we're coming home for Christmas. It couldn't have been better," said PVT Jacob Thomas.

These soldiers will be in town for the holiday, but have to return to Camp Shelby next week to finish out processing paperwork.
