What once was a thriving business is gone. Three months ago the building that was full of employees and airplane parts shut down and moved to LaGrange, Georgia. But the building that is empty now is full of promise. "We're very excited to get this facility back open and running." Mike Jones is the director of sales for Aero-Mark, the latest aeronautic company to call Baldwin County home. "We are mainly MRO, maintenance repair and overhaul, on components of aircraft parts, commercial aircraft parts. Probably start up with manufacturing aircraft parts for the military." When Aero-Mark is up and running at full staff there will be 60 employees with a financial investment of 2 point 3 million dollars. "We're a big family and we're going to start bringing family members, displaced workers, back as quick as we can." Human Resources director Johnnie Miller has spent 16 years with the different aeronautics company that have occupied this space. She knows all too well how badly jobs are needed here. "We want to get as many jobs as we can back to work. We had 60, close to 70. We've lost a lot of people, a lot of them still do not have jobs. So we need them back to work." Jones says it will be good to see the doors open next month, machinery back in place and something else too. "Hopefully we see lots of heads in the building here. We have a very aggressive plan on the manufacturing side to get us up and running." The doors will re-open January first. They hope to start hiring later that month with salaries in the 21 dollar an hour range.
