To look at her now, Ansley Mangus looks like any other five year old playing with her best friend but she's not. "Up until a few months ago we thought she was perfectly healthy but due to some issues she currently is having we are on the liver transplant list awaiting a liver," says Mom Leslie Mangus. Ansley has end stage liver disease and has been on the liver transplant list since October. "So we just take it one day at a time. Each day comes with its challenges and with its blessings. She is a brave little girl that is being faced with a lot but is being so brave and courageous through it." So for a day Fairhope Elementary School will become kind of a little shopping mall for everything from clothes, comforters and clocks all to help one little girl. A huge indoor yard sale with donations from all along the eastern shore will help raise the 60 thousand dollars needed to pay for the transplant and a chance at a normal life. "Ansley was diagnosed the week before school started," says librarian Kiki Sealy. "We honestly didn't meet her till several weeks ago because she could not come to school. But now we've all found out and we're on the boat to help em." In a place where adults are usually the teachers, the school and community is now learning something from one of their students. "The lessons like compassion and giving and supporting and loving one another," says Leslie. They are also learning what it's like to give a little girl a fighting chance. This isn't the first fundraiser for Ansley. So far the school has raised about 23 thousand dollars with bake sales, Christmas cards and other fundraisers. If you would like to help out go to Ansley's website at www.helpansley.com. Saturdays yard sale will be from 7 till noon at Fairhope Elementary School.
