The head of the Gulf Coast Claims Facility is offering commercial shrimpers and crabbers additional money.
Ken Feinberg says he'll give them four times the amount of their documented 2010 claim or their total documented losses to date- whichever is larger.
Local seafood processors and harvesters are skeptical.
Many have hired attorneys and would not talk to News 5 on camera...but off-camera, they told us they don't trust Ken Feinberg, the G.C.C.F. or B.P.
Shrimpers and crabbers say they have no way to determine what future financial losses from the oil spill will be and say settling would not be in their best interest.
Feinberg says his current offer is more than fair, but says shrimpers and crabbers don't have to settle. Feinberg says they can continue to make interim claims if they're concerned about the offer.
Harvesters and processors tell News 5 they'll let the courts decide what's fair.
