Beneath the Mount Vernon water tower sits an old structure with a new beginning. The historic Belsaw Elementary School is now home to the newest library in north Mobile County.
The ribbon was cut Thursday morning to officially mark the opening. New computers throughout the 3,100 square foot facility and the wireless internet connection are just a few things the library has to offer.
The mayor is hoping the library will help steer Mount Vernon in the right direction.
The building's renovation was completed with $358,000 in federal community development block grant funds requested by the county.
