The Mobile County Sheriff's Office has charged a man with the attempted murder of former Alabama and NFL star Antwan Odom.
According to deputies, Tony Gildersleeve came through an unlocked door at Odom's house (10480 Freedom Drive) in Irvington around 4:30 a.m. He walked into Odom's bedroom and fired two shots with a .410 shotgun. The first shot hit the wall and the second shot hit Odom in his upper right thigh. Odom was taken to the hospital. He has since been released.
The Sheriff's Office says Gildersleeve's girlfriend, Tina Marie Davis, was also in the house during the shooting.
Sheriff Sam Cochran says Odom wrestled the gun out of the Gildersleeve's hands, who then ran away. Cochran says Odom has a security system with cameras. The surveillance video is not being released at this time.
Gildersleeve turned himself in to the Sheriff's Office just before 12 noon. He's charged with attempted murder and burglary. Additional charges are pending.
Odom was eating breakfast with his family when News 5's Jessica Taloney knocked on the door. He and his family are in good spirits.

Odom played at Alma Bryant High School. He's a member of the University of Alabama's "Team of the Decade." Odom played for the Tennessee Titans and Cincinnati Bengals.
Odom was suspended by the NFL for the first four games of the 2010 season for violating the league’s substance abuse policy. After returning, he only played four games, recording just three tackles before he was placed on injured reserve with a wrist injury.
In March, Odom's $1.1 million home in Mason, Ohio burned to the ground. Odom, his wife and his five kids, were not home at the time.
The Bengals released Odom last month.
