The second week of August each year is National Health Center Week. It is dedicated to recognizing the service and contributions of community, migrant, homeless, and public housing health centers in providing access to affordable, high quality, cost-effective health care to medically vulnerable and underserved people in the United States. In continuation of its observance of National Center Health Week, the Mobile County Health Department will be by offering the following services in its mobile health clinic at the following times and locations:
Health screenings from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 12, at Semmes Walmart Supercenter, 7855 Moffett Rd.
Clinical breast examinations for women age 40-64, and for women under 40 if they are experiencing breast problems, from 8:30 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 13, at Winn-Dixie at the corner of Government and Catherine streets.
The health screenings and children’s immunizations are free for individuals who have no insurance. The clinical breast examinations are free for individuals who have no insurance or who are underinsured. Individuals with insurance will not be charged co-pays. For more information, call 690-8971.
