This guy isn't messing around. If you are heading to the Lithuanian capital, Vilnius, make sure you park your car legally, or they mayor will crush it with a military grade tank. Sound drastic? Well, that's what Vilnius' (or villainous... you take your pick) mayor Arturas Zuokas apparently thinks he needs to do to keep rich folks from parking their luxury cars in the bike lanes.
Zuokas wants the people of his city to take this seriously. It's apparent in the PSA that the Benz he crushed -- even though the event seemed staged -- isn't the only car that stands in cyclists. The video shows other vehicles also parked in the lanes, and features an awesome Eurotrash soundtrack. His spokeswoman, Irma Juskenaite told the Guardian:
Mayor Zuokas wanted his message to be loud and clear that the city will not tolerate brazen and disrespectful behavior by drivers who disobey parking rules. The mayor hopes that he will not have to repeat his performance, although he says that he is prepared to do so.
The video has sparked already began to spark enormous interest on the Internet. When Howard Wolfson, a deputy mayor in New York, was asked via Twitter whether Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg would ever do anything along the lines of Zuokas he responded with the following tweet
