Home prices have been slashed across Baldwin County. Homebuilders are now in a price-slashing war, offering unbelievable move-in specials and discounts.
"It's definitely a buyer's market," says Kevin Corcoran with REMAX Gulf Shores. "As long as this distressed property situation continues, it'll keep the market held down and there will continue to be good deals for buyers for months to come."
There are even deals available in Gulf Shores, Fort Morgan and Orange Beach. We found homes just a block off the beach that were built in 2008 now selling for 140-thousand dollars...some even less than 100 thousand bucks!
"For all those renters out there, it's a great time to buy," says Cheryl Russell with Prudential Real Estate.
Realtors say home prices were cut two years ago when the recession hit and were cut once again this summer, because of the oil spill.
"The oil spill definitely affected the coastal properties, they're not even selling, they're just sitting there," says Russell.
"When you're talking about living on Pleasure Island for less than 200-thousand dollars, that was unheard of a couple years ago," says Corcoran.
