Earlier this week, President Obama announced the official end of combat operations in Iraq. A Saraland mother has double the reasons to worry about our troops in that country. Terri Cahill's twin sons, Cliff and Clint Copeland, are there. "They both volunteered. It's what they wanted to do, and I said, go for it."
They are both in the 3rd Infantry Division. Cliff is in a dangerous combat unit, and Clint a non-combat one. Cliff is coming home, in a couple of weeks after his second tour of duty, but Clint will stay in Iraq, helping to train Iraqi security forces for another ten months. Even though President Obama has announced that combat operations are coming to an end, Terri is still nervous. "I hope it works out like they planned. It's the unknown. I just don't know. Things just pop out of nowhere."
Terri takes comfort knowing, her 24 year old sons are following their dreams. "I keep the faith. This is what they wanted to do. I tell them there are so many prayers, and God's angels are working overtime to take care of you."
Terri has had a yellow ribbon on her mailbox for six years, since her son's entered the military. She doesn't plan to take it off, when they return home. She is leaving it there, until all our troops come home.
