At least four other South Baldwin County businesses have closed or will close and the owners are blaming the oil spill for their financial problems. On Tuesday, Waltz Restaurant in Foley closed, joining a growing list of mom and pop businesses shutting their doors this summer, including the Wheelhouse Restaurant in Gulf Shores, a local seafood market and Beachside Shoes located on Highway 59 in Foley.
Last month, an Orange Beach gift shop closed. Bizarre Bazaar owner Louis Delaparra says BP denied his claim check and was forced to close his doors.
Local business and financial experts say more small, mom and pop shops could close soon...many might not make it until the end of the month.
