An unknown candidate for Alabama's Agriculture Commissioner is making a name for himself thanks to the internet.
Dale Peterson of Birmingham couldn't afford to put his political ad on TV, so without paying a dime, he put it on YouTube. (Watch the ad below)
Within 48 hours, more than 400,000 people viewed the video and now Peterson is a worldwide sensation.
"I've gotten calls from folks in California to around the world to Michigan to everywhere, practically every state. They're saying that they're wishing they could be in Alabama. And you know that's what it's all about. Alabama's a great state and it's not called alabama the beautiful for nothing," said Republican candidate Dale Peterson.
In the ad, Peterson is carrying a rifle, wearing a cowboy hat and riding a horse.
He faces Republican candidates Dorman Grace and John McMillian in the June 1st primary.
