Angel Downs was laid to rest Saturday in Warner Robbins, Georgia, six days after she was found shot to death outside her Gulf Shores condominium.
A lot has happened within the past week, including a bombshell dropped by Baldwin County District Attorney Judy Newcomb. On Friday, Newcomb named
Mobile County Commissioner Steve Nodine the only suspect in Angel's murder.
The case was originally called a "death investigation" when Nodine's mistress was found dead with a gunshot wound to the head last Sunday. But the situation changed throughout the week as investigators conducted more interviews and gathered new evidence. Commissioner Nodine was, at first, called a "person of interest" but on Friday, D-A Newcomb classified Downs' death as a murder....with Nodine the only suspect.
Nodine has not been charged in Angel's death but on Friday, the commissioner was arrested in Mobile on unrrelated drug and ethics charges.
A local memorial service will be held this Tuesday at 6pm at the Gulf State Park Beach Pavillion in Gulf Shores. Downs was 45 years old.
