Mayor Sam Jones says the EADS decision to possibly go after the tanker project without Northrop Grumman could be a positive sign for the Port City. Jones says the only communication he’s had with EADS is from a letter stating their intentions last week. He says he plans on speaking to some EADS officials Monday. Jones says he just wants to get a status report from them.

“What we might be able to contribute to make them more competitive and when can we move forward, if they make the decision to move forward we want them to know we're in full support of their efforts,” says Mobile Mayor Sam Jones. He says EADS has to feel the bidding process is fair before moving ahead. EADS North American officials will be in town tomorrow on a humanitarian mission. EADS and the Montgomery Rescue Mission are airlifting supplies to Haiti Monday.
