Three local teachers have a shot at being the next Alabama Teacher Of The Year.
Saraland Elementary's Angela Williams, Gulf Shores Middle School's Roger Reetz Jr. and Grove Hill Elementary's Andrea Carpenter are among the teachers who made the 'Sweet 16'

132 teacher applied. The field was narrowed down to an elementary and secondary teacher from each of the eight state Board of Education districts. The final four will be selected soon and the 'Teacher of Year' will be named May 12.
“These teachers are not only role models for the students of Alabama, but for their peers as well," said State Superintendent Dr. Joseph Morton. "Their hard work, innovation and compassion are seen in the accomplishments of their students. We are honored to have teachers of this caliber working in our schools statewide."
