A woman whose job was to take care of animals at a Gulfport no kill shelter has been arrested for animal cruelty. Jonean Crowle was director of The South Mississippi Animal Rescue Team and Refuge. More than 200 dogs, dozens of cats, 7 goats, a rooster, and a pony were found at a location on Wolf River Road in Harrison County. Authorities say Crowle's intentions were good but the conditions were not. Crowle insists the animals were properly cared for, "they're not neglected, they're well fed, they're well cared for, they have every bit of medical attention they need and they have us to love them and pet them until they get their homes," said Crowle. Crowle is facing 10 counts of animal cruelty.
