It's rare to see this many people marching in favor of more taxes. Supporters of the one cent sales tax and their children marched through Foley with signs and slogans touting the sales tax as a much needed boost to the school district.
“The one cent's going to help because the children that are in classrooms that are oversized will get additional when they're needed if we have additional personnel,” says teacher and parent Vicky Gunn. Supporters say they're hopeful they can turn this large turnout into a large yes vote when the vote comes up.
“With a lot of prayer and hope maybe, I don't know, there are no exact numbers,” says Teacher Kristen Gray. With floats and music, the march had all the makings of a pep rally--this time the home team is the entire county. The sales tax is up for a vote March 23rd.
