Pastor Arrested In Prostitution Sting

Mobile police arrested William Curtin, the pastor of St. John UMC in West Mobile and The Grace Place UMC in Semmes. He was also a member of the Mobile City Planning Commission.

A pastor is one of the 22 people arrested during a five day prostitution sting in West Mobile.

Mobile police arrested 49 year old William Curtin Tuesday afternoon and charged him with patronizing a prostitute.

Curtin is the pastor of two churches, St. John UMC in West Mobile and The Grace Place UMC in Semmes.

Last August, Mayor Sam Jones appointed Curtin to the city's planning commission.

Senior Pastor, The Grace Place United Methodist Church
Since 2006, Mr. Curtin has been the Senior Pastor with The Grace Place United Methodist Church, a church for which he received a grant to establish. The primary focus of the church is providing services, support and a faith community for people in need. Prior to this, Mr. Curtin spent approximately 9 years serving with Tanner Williams United Methodist Church and Christ United Methodist Church.

Mr. Curtin, a resident of Semmes, Alabama, has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Wesley College in Florence, Mississippi, and a Master of Divinity degree from Asbury Theological Seminary in Wilmore, Kentucky. He has received multiple awards for his faith-based work, and is actively involved in a variety of civic, non-profit and faith-based organizations within the region.

Twenty one other people were arrested in the sting.
