Chris Samuels told reporters he was born with a neck condition called stenosis. He says, when he gets hit a certain way, he loses power in his upper extremities. He says that's what happened last year in a game against the Carolina Panthers and that's why he made the decision to retire. Chris says, when he was hit last year, everything went numb and GOD was told him to sit tight and he did.

Chris told those gathered for his announcement, GOD has been truly good to him. He said some Doctors predicted he would only play for just a few years, instead, he played 10 and for 6 of those years, he was "All Pro." He told his teammates not to feel sorry for him and he encouraged them to go out and win.

His parents, other family members, friends, coaches and others were present at today's announcement.
