Imagine someone pointing a gun in your face, and trying to steal your car with your young son inside?
That's exactly what happened Tuesday night in Chunchula.
The Mobile County Sheriff's Office said a woman was robbed and had her car stolen in front of the U.S. Post Office in Chunchula on Roberts Road.
Mobile County Sheriff Sam Cochran said, "We're very fortunate to get these two 18 year olds off the street: to put a gun in a lady's face and take a child out of the car."
Cochran is talking about Tremell Sargent and Halrrell Kirksey.
He said they were arrested for stealing a woman's car Tuesday night right before 7:00 in front of the Post Office in Chunchula.
Cochran said, "One of them (the suspects was) armed with a pistol, and he placed her on the ground, while the other one put her four year old child out of the vehicle and on to the ground as well. They then fled the scene in her vehicle."
Deputies haven't identified the woman and her young son, but said they weren't hurt.
Cochran said deputies then got a tip that the woman's car was parked in back of a house at 64 Brucewood Drive in Prichard.
He said deputies went in, arrested Sargent and Kirksey, and, "from that house, they recovered the license plate that had been removed from the vehicle, some stereo equipment that had already been removed from the vehicle, the victim's drivers license, and other personal effects."
Sharon Brazel went to the post office today and heard about the robbery from the postmaster there.
She said, "Its sad that stuff like that goes on, but, its a sign of the times, and people are more desperate."
Cochran said, "If they're 18 years of age doing this, no telling what else they've done, and no telling what they would have done were we not able to apprehend them so quickly."
Sargeant and Kirksey are charged with first degree robbery.
Cocrhan said two other people in another vehicle may also have been involved in the robbery.
