Testimony began in the capital murder trial of Ian Aitcheson on Wednesday. Aitcheson and four co-defendants are charged in the robbery and stabbing death of Robert Aitcheson. The group is also charged with burning Robert Aitcheson's mobile home in Silver Hill.
Jurors heard from several witnesses, including Ian Aitcheson's 21 year old brother Kyle. His older brother testified he had heard Ian talk about being part of a gang. That gang reportedly included Amen Wellock, Darlene Jerkins, Danny Weaver and Keshjuan Betts. Baldwin County Assistant District Attorney Michael Pylant said one of the co-defendants may testify in Aitcheson's trial.
Robert Aitcheson was found dead at his Silver Hill trailer in January 2009. Prosecutors say they believe the group planned to rob and kill him.
Defense attorney James Scroggins said he would not comment while the trial is underway.
