The State Fire Marshal believes an arsonist is to blame for a house fire in Silverhill.

The fire on County Road 55 started before 9:00 a.m. Firefighters from four agencies (Silverhill, Loxley, Robertsdale, Fish River-Marlow) responded, but there was not anything they could do to save the home.

Witnesses reported hearing explosions. The intense heat caused ammo in a gun safe to explode.

Heather Bishop says her father-in-law built the house. She and her husband are heartbroken.

As of 12 noon, firefighters were still on scene putting out hot spots.

News 5's Pat Peterson will have the latest tonight on News 5 at 5:00 and 6:00.
