Meagan Vanderpool is recovering from one of the scariest moments of her life. The Summerdale woman was home alone Wednesday morning when she says a silver mini-van pulled up in her driveway. Meagan says a man got out, walked up to her back door and tried to break in.
Meagan called the police, grabbed a rifle and was ready for a showdown with the bad guy.
"I went in the bedroom and grabbed my boyfriend's gun," says Vanderpool. "If he was going to come in, I was ready. I wouldn't hesitate to do anything."
Police searched for the suspect on Summerdale's back roads, but the would-be burglar got away.
Cops have a warning for would-be criminals.
"If he did open that door, it could've probably went way bad," says Summerdale Police Cpl. Quentin Bettner.
And so does Meagan.
"I wouldn't hesitate if somebody came through the door, even just to shoot them in the leg so they wouldn't steal our stuff or hurt me," says Vanderpool.
Meagan says the bad guys better think twice before committing a crime on her property.
