Robert Bentley will take on Bradley Byrne in the Republican primary runoff for governor as the complete recount shows third-place finisher Tim James lost by a wider margin than in the initial tally.
Numbers run by the state Republican Party on Friday show James trailing the second-place Bentley by more than 200 votes. The original tally from the June 1 primary showed James behind by 167 votes. The recount shows James trailing by 267 votes without a voting place from Mobile County where the ballots couldn't be located for the recount. James trails by 223 votes if the original tally from the Mobile County precinct is used for the recount.
The runoff is July 13.
