Some Visa debit card customers are fuming mad. They say they bought some gas from Chevron gas stations. But what was in their tank did not reflect the amount taken out of their bank accounts.
They not only paid for their gas but an additional temporary hold was placed on their card for $120 for three days.
Some say they were caught by surprise and wish they knew that in advance before pumping their gas.
One woman told us a $42 fill-up cost her more than $160.
"First of all, when I went to the pump I trusted them that I would get my $42. Now I don't trust them that they won't do this to my account again. I feel like this is an invasion of privacy into my account and I can't say that they"ll do it again," said Fairhope resident Terryl Evans.
News Five contacted Chevron at its headquarters in California and were told it has received numerous complaints this week about the temporary hold.
The company says it has asked Visa to resolve this issue.
Visa says it's not the problem, but the banks that issue its debit cards.
