An investigation has been launched into what exactly caused the death of a Baldwin County Corrections Center inmate.
According to the Baldwin County Sheriff's Office, 32-year-old Jacob Jordan of Eight Mile was found unresponsive in his cell early Friday morning. Medical staff and paramedics arrived and attempted to revive Jordan, but were unsuccessful.
Sheriff's deputies say an early investigation has revealed that late Thursday afternoon Jordan began experiencing health problems and was moved into the medical block of the Corrections Center for treatment and observation. They say, at the time of his death, Jordan was under the medical care of Baldwin Corrections medical staff.
According to the jail log, Jordan was booked on July 2 for marijuana possession and hunting after dark charges. Baldwin County Sheriffs say Jordan was booked in the Baldwin Corrections from Mobile Metro Jail.
Multiple agencies including the Baldwin County District Attorney's Office, the Alabama Bureau of Investigation and the Baldwin County Coroner's Office are investigating the case.
At this time, Jordan's death appears to be from natural causes.
