A local charity is one of four across the country competing for $100,000 in grant money from a national TV show. The Bay Area Food bank is one of the nominees of the NBC Today Show’s “What Do Care About Today” contest. Voting started today and runs through Tuesday at 6pm on the web. If the Food Bank wins officials say it’ll go in part to mobile food pantries that have been helping feed people throughout the Gulf Coast.

“I hope we have a good reputation on the Gulf Coast we have lots of partner food banks that know what we do and there's no other food bank competing against us,” says Food Bank Executive Director Dave Reaney. Reaney says the money will also help their child nutrition program. They provide meals and snacks for kid programs around the region. The money comes from the Pepsi Refresh Project.
