A single-vehicle crash claimed the life of an Irvington man early Wednesday morning. George W. Smith, age 59, was driving a 2000 Ford F 150 east-bound on U.S. 90.
At approximately 1:40 a.m., Smith’s vehicle left the roadway at the intersection of Tung Avenue and struck a culvert and a utility pole. Smith was not wearing a safety belt at the time of the crash and died at the scene. The crash is still under investigation by Alabama State Troopers.
