A 13-year-old Crestview girl is charged with aggravated battery with a weapon after stabbing a 14-year old boy during an argument over video game controllers. Deputies with the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office found Syrita Ann Griffin of 4699 Falcon Way walking down the street after they were called to her home shortly after midnight in reference to a stabbing.
The victim, 14-year old Joseph Devon Bess of 329 Dahlquist Drive in Crestview, says he and Griffin were arguing while playing a video game when she went to the kitchen and got a kitchen knife. Bess told deputies he tried to grab her wrist and she stabbed him in the chest. He was treated and released at Crestview's North Okaloosa Medical Center.
Griffin was booked into the Department of Juvenile Justice facility in Crestview.
Deputies say five other children between the ages of four and fourteen were also in the home at the time of the stabbing and some witnessed the incident. No adults were present.
