Flash flooding leaves campers stranded at rural campground north of Pensacola

Much of Cotton Lake Road in North Escambia County, Florida, is underwater. The dry parts aren't any easier to drive on. Those brave enough to navigate the washed out road have to make their way through an obstacle course of giant potholes, drop-offs and cracks nearly large enough to swallow a tire.

At the end of Cotton Lake Road, we found two campers stranded along the Escambia River by rising flood waters. Eugene Beaudry and Sue Lahti say they made it through a night of Hell.

"The wind was blowing so hard, she started coming through the tent," says Beaudry. "We'll let the river rest for a few days, the river's flowing pretty good so the levels should go down, figure two or three days."

The campers food and clothes got soaked but they say they'll chalk the flooding up to a once in a lifetime adventure.
