As of Friday, the Archdiocese of Mobile has contributed over $250,000 to the Haitian earthquake relief efforts. Last weekend, Archbishop Rodi mandated a special collection to be taken up at all parishes and missions in Mobile. This encompasses the lower 28 counties of Alabama and includes 76 parishes and 10 mission parishes.
The proceeds of this collection will be sent to Catholic Relief Services, a remarkable organization which has repeatedly demonstrated an outstanding ability to get help quickly and effectively to foreign countries in need of assistance. This is particularly true of their efforts in Haiti. (www.crs.org)
