Heavy rain Wednesday night caught many drivers off guard, as flood waters rose and spilled on the roads.
Charles Prichard, who owns a mobile home park off Halls Mill Road, says he's seen the road flood many times.
"They get stuck," Prichard said, talking about drivers who try to drive through. "They get flooded out, have to pull it out and some of them are under water."
Two young women had to be rescued from their car, as it was quickly submerged.
Krystal Sheffield of Hub City Towing says her tow truck drivers pulled more than 30 cars from the water overnight.
The owner of one car, who got stuck in the water on Lakeside Drive, had to push the vehicle to a nearby parking lot. She called mechanic Tyrone Wallace to take a look.
"Once the water gets into the tail pipe, it sucks the water up into the motor," said Wallace. "If you get it into the transmission, it's a wrap," he said.
Police warn drivers to turn around when they say water on the road. It's dangerous, and it can be expensive.
