Texas Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison made good on her BCS bet.
Hutchison and Alabama Senator Richard Shelby bet each other a turkey. Since Alabama beat Texas 37-21, Hutchison had to pay up.
On Wednesday, Hutchison presented Shelby a turkey from a farm in Tyler, Texas. Shelby donated it to the Central Union Mission in Washington, D.C.
"I thank Senator Hutchison for making good on our friendly wager in recognition of the University of Alabama’s victory in the college football national championship game,” said Shelby. “I congratulate Coach Saban for leading the Crimson Tide to a perfect season and bringing the championship trophy back to Tuscaloosa. Coach Brown and the Longhorns also deserve tremendous credit for an excellent season."
“Congratulations to the University of Alabama players on their undefeated season and national championship win,” Senator Hutchison said. “Despite their disappointing loss to the Crimson Tide, The University of Texas Longhorns had such an extraordinary season. I’m happy to settle my wager with my friend and colleague."
