There's been an outpouring of local support to help earthquake victims in Haiti. The local chapter of the American Red Cross is normally closed for the Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday but not this one. They were too busy taking in donations, "just in walk-ins, we've had over 10-thousand dollars come in," said American Red Cross spokesperson, Elizabeth Saunders. While they were taking donations, another local group is on standby. Some members of The AL-3 Disaster Medical Assistance Team may be headed into Haiti to help on the ground, "we're equipped to handle pretty much any type of event, one to this magnitude, I don't believe any one agency or any one country could handle it alone. This is going to be a world wide response," said AL-3 DMAT Team Commander, Randy Smith. If you're interested in joining the AL-3 DMAT Team click herefor more information.
