Byrne sent Twitter and Facebook messages to followers Monday telling them he was kicking off his television advertising campaign. Byrne's ads include one showing him hunting with his sons and talking about issues with his family. In the other ad, Byrne talks about his faith.

Byrne is a former state senator, state school board member and was chancellor of the state two-year college system when he
resigned to run for governor.

Byrne's ads begin running Tuesday and are the first of what are expected to be many televised political ads during this election year in Alabama.

Byrne is one of seven candidates seeking the Republican Party's nomination for governor in the June 1 primary.
