Herman Thomas, the former circuit court judge found not guilty of sexually abusing inmates, will announce Wednesday morning whether he will run for the Alabama State Senate.
As we first reported last week, Thomas is debating whether to challenge incumbent Senator Vivian Davis-Figures.
Figures, who testified against Thomas during his three week jury trial last October, has held the District 33 seat since 1997.
Thomas stepped down from the circuit court bench in October 2007 after he was accused of paddling and sexually abusing defendants in his courtroom. Thomas was acquitted of all of the charges in October 2009 and is currently fighting to get back his law license, which was suspended after he was indicted last April.
