The Baldwin County Sheriff's Office is mourning the tragic death of a deputy.

The Sheriff's Office says 33-year-old Mike Malone was hunting on or near a train track in Greene County when he was hit by a train late Sunday afternoon. Malone was killed instantly. The Alabama Bureau of Investigation is handling the case.

Malone joined the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office in October 2002. Before that he was a police officer in Mobile. Malone leaves behind his wife, Amy.

The Sheriff’s Office is asking the people of Baldwin County to pray for the Malone family and the department.
