A mystery in Mobile County: a man's body was found Friday near a shrimp boat.
The discovery was made at the end of Old Shipyard Road and Fowl River Point in south Mobile County.
Deputies have not yet released his name or cause of death, but the boat's owner said the man had done some work for him.
David Rodgers owns the shrimp boat "Lady Charlotte" near where the body of the man.
Rodgers said, "I don't know how to get in touch with any of his family. He was between the two boats at the end of wharf where the wharf goes straight out. It looks like to me he just walked straight off the end of that wharf."
Rodgers and his stepdaughter, Shrie Dodge, said the man had worked for them on the boat.
They don't know his last name, but know he has children.
Dodge said he had been missing for a short time.
She said, "I wasn't expecting this at all. None of us were. We thought he just might came back. Maybe he didn't make it back on the boat. He just fell and couldn't get back out, I guess."
Rodgers said the man has been a resident of the bayou all his life and "he's a hard worker."
An ambulance brought out the man's body early in the evening Friday.
For Rodgers, the incident brought back memories of an tragic accident that happened on the "Lady Charlotte" two days before Christmas in 2006.
He said, "Its bad because my brother died on that boat three years ago and its hard. It's a hard thing."
