A local pharmacist is accused of stealing drugs and selling them illegally.

Bruce Miller was arrested on Thursday as he was leaving work. He reportedly had bottles of codeine syrup and 1,000 hydrocodone pills on him.

Miller has been charged with two counts of Unlawful Distribution of Controlled Substances and one count of Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substances. His license has also been revoked.

Miller worked behind the counter at the Fred's store in Citronelle. Police won't say exactly how they were tipped off but believe others are involved in the operation. They also raided Miller's townhouse in Mobile and found more narcotics.

Police estimate that Miller stole 50-thousand dollars of medicine.

Fred's customer Lela Echols is shocked. "I think it's horrible that a pharmacist would do something like this. I mean, if you can't trust your pharmacist who can you trust?

Mobile Police say this case is big enough that federal charges could be filed against Miller too.

The Alabama State Pharmacy Board is doing its own investigation to determine how much medicine is missing from the store.
