It's spirit week at Central Christian School in Robertsdale and Thursday was Pajama Day. But students and faculty here have a lot more on their minds than having fun. These students are originally from Haiti and are now living with their adoptive parents in Baldwin County. Several of the childen's adoptive parents are teachers at C.S.S. Everyone here has been glued to the internet watching news coverage of the deadly earthquake.
"My mom and dad are down there," says Estania Lippincott. "I saw a whole bunch of buildings and people stuck under them, so it's just really horrible."
Some of the children haven't been able to make contact with loved ones back home.
"It's pretty sad that I hope my friends are okay," says Samuel Lewis. "The damage...it feels like my heart has been broken."
Natalie Lewis is a teacher at C.S.S. She adopted three Haitian children and will adopt a fourth child from the island country soon.
"Phone lines are down and that made me scared for them," says Lewis. "I pray that the aid needed will get in the right hands."
A Pensacola agency with Haitian ties has set up a donation account to help the earthquake victims. Globe International is asking Gulf Coast residents to donate whatever they can. Globe International's website is: www.lfmintl.com.
