Cold, Dry Weather Causes Problems

»  Comments | Post a Comment

We have a warning from area firefighters: please beware of the serious fire danger due to the cold, dry weather.
There was a huge fire Tuesday off Coy Smith Highway that scorched some tires, then damaged a wooded area between Citronelle and Mount Vernon.
Firefighters from 10 different departments fought the blaze for several hours before bringing it under control.
The fire threatened homes, businesses and a horse stable.
Several race horses were in the barn.
Scott Lofton called 9-1-1 for help.
He said it could have been devastating if the fire had spread.
Firefighters from Citronelle, Mount Vernon and surrounding communities helped to bring the fire under control.
