There was a huge fire Tuesday off Coy Smith Highway that scorched some tires, then damaged a wooded area between Citronelle and Mount Vernon.
Firefighters from 10 different departments fought the blaze for several hours before bringing it under control.
The fire threatened homes, businesses and a horse stable.
Several race horses were in the barn.
Scott Lofton called 9-1-1 for help.
He said it could have been devastating if the fire had spread.
