Woman Drowns Her Grandson In A Bathtub

A Florida woman is charged with the murder of her 5-year-old grandson. Police say she drowned him in a bathtub.

According to the arrest affidavit, 71-year-old Marianne Bordt was on a beach vacation with her husband and grandson in St. George Island. When her husband went to the store, police say Bordt drowned her grandson and then tried to kill herself.

The arrest affidavit also states Bordt told her husband she did it because she did not want him to grow up in a divorced home. Bordt said she then tried to drown herself in the Gulf of Mexico.

Bordt's husband forced her in to the back of their car and drove her to the local fire station where he turned her in.

Bordt was booked into the Franklin County Jail and charged with first-degree murder. The Germany Consulate was contacted because the Bordt's are German nationals.
