The First Mobile Baby of 2010

Bailey Ann Payne was born to Jon and Lauren Payne on New Year's Day at 2:31. She was born weighing six pounds 10 ounces. She’s the first baby in Mobile for 2010. Now young Gabrielle Payne has a baby sister she can play with.

“Just involve her, let her sit up there and let her hold the baby and involve her,” says mother Lauren Payne referring to Bailey and her 15-month-old sister Gabrielle. While it is tough to predict when a child is born, this mother says it was her plan to have a new year's baby. Lauren has been shooting for a January first delivery since the doctor first said her due date was early January. As you might imagine, mom is proud of her new baby girl.

“Oh, it feels good, but it's going to be handful,” says Lauren Payne. The Payne family joins an elite class of parents that only get new members once a year.

“[The hospital staff] told me we get bragging rights and it'll be on TV,” says Lauren with a smile. The Paynes expect to take their daughter home Monday.
