When you think of New Year's celebrations...going to court facing a judge probably doesn't come to mind.
But, the courtroom is exactly where some adoptive parents wanted to be with their children today.

What happens in this courtroom is a very private matter. Adoption hearings are typically closed. But, these parents agreed to share their joy with us..so Judge Don Davis let us in.

"It finally hit home that it's finally here, the day we've prayed for, we've waited for. Long time coming and great Christmas present, great way to end the year, start the new year. We just couldn't be happier and now that we've walked through the door..it's official", says Jamie Burch. He and his wife, Sarah, are the new parents of Payton Elizabeth.

The bonds adoptive parents have formed with their babies over the last several months become legal here. With the Judge's seal on their union, mommies and daddies leave the courtroom parents in every sense of word.

"We love our daughter and she's our today", say The Deakles, another adoptive couple with their 5 month old daughter, Ella Grace.

Remember visiting this couple last month in their home in Wilmer? Lizzy has grown a bit..and has more hair. Her parents are starting the new year beaming.

"Joy, um..she's ours forever..and we really appreciate the gift that we're given", says Anna Sunderland.
